Ruffed grouse population ecology in the Appalachian region

Article Abstract:

The study results of ruffled grouse population ecology conducted as a part of the Appalachian Cooperative Grouse Research Project (ACGRP) to estimate reproductive rates, survival and cause-specific mortality rates and finite population growth is reported.

The declining population of ruffed grouse in Central and Southern Appalachians and the influence of nest success factors on this population decrease are examined.
