Russian academy institutes told to set priorities
Article Abstract:
The Russian Academy of Sciences has been told to rank its programs in order of funding importance following a presidium action last month to cut its budget. Some institutes such as those for general physics, molecular genetics and molecular biology have been preparing for the last two years and will not be greatly harmed. Unfortunately, the presidium's decision will postpone an emergency order that would allow Russian institutes to receive funding from abroad.
