San Antonio aims for spot on high-technology map

Article Abstract:

The Texas Research and Technology Foundation (TRTF) is striving to boost the San Antonio area's economic development by encouraging high-technology, biotechnology and medical research firms and institutes to locate there. Founded in 1984, TRTF relies on private contributions to supply the venture capital the lack of which has stymied the growth of high-technology in San Antonio. TRTF operates the Texas Research Park, which houses the University of Texas Health Science Center's Institute of Biotechnology and will soon house the Cancer Therapy and Research Center's Institute for Drug Development.
