Article Abstract:

The honeycomb produced by bees is among works of art produced by animals. In vol. V of the 'Collection' of Pappus of Alexandria, philosopher, the wisdom of bees is referred to. Their honeycomb is geometrically perfect and leads scientists to question whether it is the result of self-organizing principles of packing or genetic predisposition.
