Seasonal pattern in group size and population composition of blue sheep in Manang, Nepal

Article Abstract:

It is important that knowledge of the ecology of blue sheep is improved, as these animals are a key prey of the endangered snow leopard. Recent research has focused on group size and population composition of blue sheep in Manang District, Annapurna Conservation Area, Nepal. There were found to be significant seasonal variations in group size, with groups being much smaller in winter. There was a seasonal pattern in adult sex ratio, and this may explained by seasonal variation in sex-specific mortality.

Valuation of experimental management options for ecological systems

Article Abstract:

It is widely accepted that large field experiments of management policy options can help resolve uncertainties about managed ecological systems and the effects of human disturbance. However, such experiments carry high costs and risks unless they have a clear economic justification. A value function for comparing design alternatives of economic evaluation experiments is presented.
