Solution structure of a protein denatured state and folding intermediate

Article Abstract:

The solution structure of a true denatured state is solved by nuclear magnetic resonance under conditions that would normally favor folding, while its equilibrium and kinetic behavior is studied. A mutant of Drosophila melanogaster Engrailed homeodomain that folds and unfolds reversibly just by changing ionic strength.

Lethargus is a Caenorhabditis elegans sleep-like state

Article Abstract:

Studies related to sleep-like quiescent behavioral state called lethargus observed in arthropod Drosophila melanogaster and nematode Caenorhabditis elegans are described. The findings identified the cGMP-dependent protein kinase gene egl-4 as a regulator, which promoted the sleep-like behavior.
