Spatial patterns in species distributions reveal biodiversity change

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to show that declines and increases can be deduced from current species distributions alone, using spatial patterns of occupancy combined with distribution size. The link between current distribution patterns and processes of distribution change could be used to assess relative levels of threat facing different species, even for regions and taxa lacking detailed historical and ecological information.

Extinction risk from climate change

Article Abstract:

The responsiveness of species to recent and past climate change has raised the possibility that anthropogenic climate change could act as a major cause of extinctionEs in the near future, with the earth set to become warmer than at any period in the past 1-40 Myr. Climate change over the years has produced numerous shifts in the distributions and abundanceEs of species.

Is this what it takes to save the world?

Article Abstract:

Geoengineering is being used for altering the climate change. Climate scientists are willing to study new pathways that might help in improving the Earth's climate, but they are not willing to abandon the realm of natural science and commit themselves to an artificial Earth.
