Article Abstract:

Half a million junior researchers, such as PhD students and postdoctoral workers, form the backbone of Europe's scientific pursuits of which many of them are employed under ill defined conditions. Associations that represent postgraduates are addressing these issues and are calling for standardization of training and conditions throughout Europe.

Anti-evolutionists raise their profile in Europe

Article Abstract:

The impact of teaching alternative theories of evolution in the UK schools is discussed. The perception of evolutionary biology is seriously undermined by anti-evolutionists and hence biologists should devote more time to counteracting its spread by explaining their theories to the public.

Designer rice to combat diet deficiencies makes its debut

The International Rice Research Institute which is situated in Los Banos, Philippines, has received its first sample of genetically modified rice. The transgenic rice has been engineering to prevent Vitamin A deficiencies.
