Crystal structure of a junction between B-DNA and Z-DNA reveals two extruded bases

Article Abstract:

The crystal structure of a junction between B-DNA and Z-DNA as revealed by X-ray crystallography is presented. B-Z junctions are easily formed in biological systems owning to the widespread occurrence of negative supercoiling, which can further be stabilized by Z-DNA binding proteins.
