Structure of the core domain of human cardiac troponin in the Ca(sup)2+ -saturated form

Article Abstract:

The crystal structures of human cardiac troponin core domain in the calcium-saturated form reveal that the core domain is divided into subdomains that are connected by flexible linkers, rendering the entire molecule flexible. Data on the ternary complex structure indicates that calcium binding to TnC subunit of troponin removes the C-terminus of TnI subunit from actin to facilitate mobility of troponin and tropomyosin.

Crystal structure of thymine DNA glycosylase conjugated to SUMO-1

Article Abstract:

The crystal structure of the central region of human TDG conjugated to small unbiquitin-like modifier (SUMO)-1 is reported. The structure reveals a helix protruding from the protein surface, which presumably interferes with the product DNA, and thus promotes the dissociation of TDG from the DNA molecule.

Altered thymic T-cell selection due to a mutation of the ZAP-70 gene causes autoimmune arthritis in mice

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that a spontaneous point mutation of the ZAP-70 SH2 domain gene results in chronic autoimmune arthritisin mice similar to human rheumatoid arthritis. Results show that altered signal transduction through the aberrant ZAP-70 changes the thresholds of T cells to thymic selection.
