Synthesis and organization of zeolite-like materials with three-dimensional helical pores

Article Abstract:

Helical pores in inorganic materials rarely occur, but the increasing demand for enantiomerically pure chemicals has led to research into the preparation of heterogeneous chiral catalysts that can combined shape selectivity with enantioselectivity. A group of zeolite-type materials (UCSB-7) that have two independent sets of three-dimensional crosslinked helical pores, is reported. The UCSB-7 framework was synthesized, and the helical-ribbon motif identified could be used more widely in the development of useful chiral solid-state structures.

Synthetic design of crystalline inorganic chalcogenides exhibiting fast-ion conductivity

Article Abstract:

The synthesis of three-dimensional sulphides and selenides containing alkali metal cations is described. Results show that such chalcogenides incorporate zeolite-like architecture wih high anionic polarizability and high levels of mobile cations. Data indicate that these inorganic chalcogenides exhibit ionic conductivity up to 1.8 x 10(sup)-2 ohm per centimeter, as such they are preferred in the development of fast-ion conductors.

Hydrothermal syntheses and structural characterization of zeolite analogue compounds based on cobalt phosphate

Article Abstract:

Zeolite analogues that contain transition metals are useful in industrial processes such as catalysis and gas separation. Several new zeolite structural analogues have been synthesized based on cobalt phosphate. The approach used to make zeolite analogues, could be applied to systems with diverse structural types and chemical constructions, and also be used to make structural analogues of other silicate structures.
