Synthesis of survival rates and causes of mortality in North American wolverines

Article Abstract:

The survival and causes of wolverine mortality in trapped and untrapped populations within montane, boreal, and tundra environments is studied. A system of spatial harvest controls in northern, continuous population of wolverines and reduction of harvest in southern metapopulations is recommended.

Survival and sources of mortality in ocelots

Article Abstract:

Survival and cause-specific mortality estimates are needed to develop effective conservation strategies for the endangered ocelot in the United States. It is suggested that research and development of ocelot road underpasses should be conducted to mitigate ocelot-vehicle collisions

Assessing seabird mortality from chronic oil discharges at sea

Article Abstract:

A general mathematical Oiled Seabird Mortality Model (OSMM) is presented for assessing seabird mortality due to chronic oil pollution along a given coastline. The model is applied to Newfoundland, Canada, where the incidence of chronic oil pollution is the highest in the world.
