Taking the bull by the horns

Article Abstract:

Steps have been taken with the help of genetic analysis to provide animal breeders with the better quality cattle they demand. Previous programs for improvement were time-consuming, but the study of bovine pedigrees similar to human pedigrees has helped in strengthening the desirous bovine qualities such as tender meat, more milk and disease resistance. The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization in Queensland, Australia, is breeding genetic markers by isolating single gene traits.

Taking control

Article Abstract:

Future developments for the Earth are considered from the years 2000-2150 until the year 3000 and beyond. The early years could see increasing stewardship by humans as a result of disasters and by 3000 there could be interstellar travel.

Palaeotemperature reconstruction from noble gases in ground water taking into account equilibration with entrapped air

Article Abstract:

Research concerning the modeling of dissolved gases contained in ground water is presented. The use of the noble gas content of ground water to reconstruct past global temperatures is discussed.
