The carbon cycle under stress

Article Abstract:

The episode of heat and drought that affected Europe during the summer of 2003 is considered to evaluate how net carbon exchange of ecosystems responded. Results indicate that the decline in respiration was outpaced by the reduction in photosynthesis and Europe experienced a net annual loss of 0.5*10(super 15) grams of carbon when the information was integrated across the continent.
