The nightmare before funding

Article Abstract:

Researchers of every persuasion describe the process of applying for grants from funding agencies, as time-consuming and stressful and the worst part of their job. It is suggested that in order to minimize the problems faced by scientists, agencies must be open, accessible and must make an effort to understand them and also make an attempt to act on the feedback provided to them by the scientists.

Open-access row leads paper to shed authors

Article Abstract:

Minnie Sarwal paper on kidney transplant became matter of hot dispute between New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) and Public Library of Science (PoLS). Change in authorship of the paper due to editorial misconduct of NEJM became debatable issue for PoLS.

Ending of shuttle service puts space experiments 'at risk'

Article Abstract:

There are possibilities that NASA may stop flying the space shuttle after 2010, which pose an advance threat to the scientists whose experiments are on process. Research is on progress to find alternative ways to bring back scientific payloads.
