Transgenic N.glauca plants expressing bacterial virulence gene virF are converted into hosts for nopaline strains of A. tumefaciens
Article Abstract:
The virulence determinants of A. tumefaciens dwell on a tumor-inducing plasmid that is divided into two regions, the T region and Vir region. The T region transfers to the plant cell during infection and integrates with the T-DNA. Cytokin, auxin and opines are produced with the expression of the T-DNA. The Vir regions embodies genes that are requisites for T-DNA transfer to plant cells and influence transfer efficiency and host range. Results indicate that certain virulence gene products such as the VirF protein can operate as conduits of T-DNA transfer, upon transferrence to plant cells.

Chromosomal evolution in Saccharomyces
Article Abstract:
Chromosomal translocations among the genomes of six closely related species in the Saccharomyces 'senso stricto' complex have been characterized. It was demonstrated that rearrangements have taken place between closely related species, while more distant species have colinear genomes.
