Tropics of the Americas: Essentially south Florida, distinctly South America

Article Abstract:

The animals that are part of the Tropics of the Americas exhibit in Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park are observed. The zoo participates in the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums Bush Dog Special Survival Plan, and funds a research in Brazil to learn about the endangered species whose wild population has been diminished by habitat destruction and fragmentation.

A legendary cat is dead

Article Abstract:

The first Siberian tiger, Olga, that was ever fitted with a radio collar, and which was found missing since January 2005 was reported dead. The activities and whereabouts of the tiger are described along with her participation in the Siberian Tiger Project, which is a cooperative program of WCS and Sikhote-Alin Zapovednik.
