Stress-biased rearrangements and preyield behavior in glasses

A model is proposed for the preyield behavior in glassy materials that describes the stress-strain relationship at different strain rates in terms of one reduced variable. The model helps in understanding the dependence of the excitation energies on temperature in the glassy state.
