Wayne Pacelle: unplugged

Article Abstract:

Wayne Pacelle was an animal activist even in his undergraduate years. The former assistant editor of The Animals' Agenda was director of Fund for Animals before becoming VP of the Humane Society of the US. Pacelle discusses his grassroots campaign to make people aware of animal rights and issues.

2,000 protest pigeon shoot at Hegins; Klan shows up to defend the shoot

Article Abstract:

Animal rights activists demonstrated against the Fred Coleman Shoot, an annual pigeon shooting event held in Hegins, Pennsylvania on Labor Day. Among the shoot supporters were the Ku Klux Klan led by Grand Klaliff Charles Juba. Live bird shooting is illegal in most US states.

The aims of animal rights activists in trying to prevent animal abuse, and in changing the attitudes of abusers are described, with focus on the best methods of doing this, and the need for activists to rest from time to time.
