Why listing may be forever: perspectives on delisting under the U.S. Endangered Species Act

Article Abstract:

The conservation scientists' growing influence on policy and management and the increased reliance of government institutions on the science behind conservation actions is demonstrated as the delisting of species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) of the U.S. The ESA's primary aim of preventing extinction is more politically correct and effective than exaggerating the laws ability to make species immune from human threats.
