Allen Murphy named president of Philadelphia Advertising Club

Article Abstract:

Allen Murphy has been appointed president of the Philadelphia Advertising Club (PAC), marking the first time that the organization has appointed a full-time administrator in its 53-year history. Besides serving as chairman and director of PAC's scholarship fund, Murphy also served as president of the PAC during the 1987-88 term. It was during his first term that club changed its name from Television Advertising Club to the PAC. The PAC is a non-profit organization of communications professionals, and is a member of the American Advertising Federation.

Berry & Homer names new president

Article Abstract:

Commercial photo firm Berry & Homer Inc has appointed Joseph Thompson III as its president effective Jan 1, 2000. Thompson is a 20-year veteran of the firm and has worked in almost all departments. His position in the past several years was executive vp in charge of production and manufacturing. He is credited with transforming Berry & Homer into a technological leader and a full-service imaging firm.

Changing P.R. firms costs SEPTA millions

Article Abstract:

SEPTA hired a public relations firm headed by a white man Larry Ceisler, who had two Afro-American partners, to explain an elevated line in West Philadelphia. It then decided to hire instead a firm managed by two Afro-American women. The first firm, which had had the lowest bid sued SEPTA.
