Article Abstract:

Triad Systems Corp.'s MarketPace software helps auto parts distributors and retailers with effective inventory planning by drawing upon product line and vehicle registration databases. The result is a locally tailored system that creates an inventory best suited to the cars and trucks registered in a wholesaler's and retailer's area. An effective system has great value given the proliferating number of vehicles and vehicle parts.

The tool combines Bally's occupancy and revenue program with a geographic information systems model created by Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc., color-coding machines by activity levels. The ice storm

New York state emergency relief efforts after the 1998 ice storm were enhanced by the MapInfo Professional geographic information system. Using utility, street and topographical data, MapInfo displayed potential relay station sites, flood risk areas and maps depicting power outage percentages. This information helped direct and coordinate relief response activity.
