An analysis of temporal electroencephalographic patterning prior to initiation of the arm curl

Article Abstract:

Electroencephalographic (EEG) patterns during arm curl weight lifting change because of mental activity associated with the lift rather than muscular activity between rest and lift phases. This was determined by measuring muscular activity by electromyography (EMG) during rest and lifting of weights that were 25% and 95% of the subject's maximum one-time lift amount. EEG patterns showed moderate increase at 25% and significant increase at 95%, while the EMG showed little change.

Bottle brigade

Article Abstract:

Self-styled 'urban archaeologists' search the backyards of 19th-century brownstones in New York City for old bottles and other artifacts. Many of the houses had outdoor privies that were later used as garbage dumps. Professional archaeologists complain that such activities deprive the public of important historical information, but the bottle hunters maintain that they are uninterested in the fine points of history or the archaeological context of their finds.
