Digging in the land of the Bible

Article Abstract:

Archaeology has allowed many scientists to better understand the Bible and the lure of Jerusalem. Biblical archaeology's most significant achievement has been the forms of nationhood and kingship that arose in near Eastern Iron Age societies. Archaeologists face many challenges in the preservation of the region's heritage. Continued threats of nationalistic exploitations of selected monuments and sites pose a risk to less significant remains.
