Getty gets Fleischman collection

Article Abstract:

A change in the J. Paul Getty Museum's acquisitions policy permits the museum to acquire the $80 million antiquities collection of Barbara and Lawrence Fleischman of New York. The provenance of objects is not understood in this case as where the objects are found, but is rather an established ownership history. Objects need to be part of established collections before purchase, and the Fleischman collection qualifies.
