Whipping up panic about the pill

Article Abstract:

The Oct 18, 1995 report of the British Department of Health declaring specific brands of contraceptive pills at high risk in causing thrombosis raises widespread concerns among the contraceptive users. Professor Walter Spitzer's criticism of the British Department of Health's Committee on Safety of Medicines for making the report public without proper review aggravates the issue. Spitzer's finding was based on a five-year study on 6000 women. The need to control public panic and apply restraint in making such announcements is emphasized.

Overexposure

Article Abstract:

Nudity in films has become so commonplace that many in the industry believe that to reveal their inner selves, they must drop their clothing. Qualities such as inner virtue, grace and balance seem to be outmoded.
