A portfolio of retail projects: environmental graphic design

Article Abstract:

Sussman Prejza and Co. has been designing graphics for shopping centers located in several states. The cmpany's concept involves using graphics in all aspects of the building's environment including parking lots, food courts, banners and printed material. Some of the notable projects incorporating environmental design include the South Coast PLaza in Costa Mesa, CA, the Pororoca food store in Tokyo, Japan, and the East Bay Bridge retail center in Oakland, CA.

Southern California Gas Company

Article Abstract:

Sussman Prejza and Co. has designed a new logo for the Southern California Gas Co. that represents a flame of clean-burning fuel. The logo has been used on employee uniforms, vehicles, exhibits and brochures. A three dimensional representation of the logo also serves as a chandelier in the company lobby. Sussman and Prejza associate Fernando Vasquez has also designed a prototype house that maximizes energy use as well as minimizing the cost of materials.

The Gund Arena

Article Abstract:

The Gund Investment Corp. hired Sussman Prejza to design the interiors of the Gund Arena in Cleveland, OH. The arena is the home court of the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team, and the company based its design concepts on images of basketball games. The logo was based on the movement of a basketball striking a net, a symbol that has been incorporated in the uniforms and walls. The facilities in the building also reflect various sports activities.
