Disaster preparedness

Article Abstract:

Deborah Meyer Associates was able to anticipate the effects of a disaster on its operations through a pre-distaster plan that allowed it to continue after a fire damaged its office in Ardmore, PA. It was able to make copies of all files on disks and lists of company property that were kept in a file off-site. They also had marketing and product data, client information and slide presentations in duplicate. The firm decided to rebuild the building since it was considered a historic landmark in the area.

East coast offices

Article Abstract:

Propaganda Films has reported an increase in its clientele due in part to the company's expansive studio that can accommodate the multiple productions made by the company during the year. Its office in Manhattan, New York, NY, was designed by architect Peter Himmelstein, who created a simple look that disguises the amount of technology contained in the office. The focus of the office is the central conference room shaped in a split ellipse and constructed of white acrylic panels.

A stake in success

Article Abstract:

Designer Jean Bellas ensured that her new company, SPACE, would have more active partners by making them stakeholders in the organization. The partners were invited to invest cash or equipment and to create their own home offices to decentralize management. Bellas believes that the profit-sharing scheme will motivate her staff and give them more autonomy, while compensation will be based on performance goals.
