Article Abstract:

The Theme Building at the Los Angeles International Airport was designed in 1961 to symbolize a gateway to the city and a window to the space age. However, due to access problems, the building with a futuristic architecture soon became a white elephant. To revitalize it, Los Angeles, CA's Dept. of Airports hired CA One Services to design the building's restaurant with a space-age look. Together with Walt Disney Imagineering, CA One was able to make the restaurant appear like an intergalactic terminal where comfortable space-age dining is provided.

Mezzo

Article Abstract:

The Mezzo, a split-level 700-seat restaurant, is a creation of British designer Sir Terrence Conran, head of the Conran Design Partnership. On the ground floor is the Mezzonine which has cast aluminum chairs, sycamore tables, marbled floor and black and white photographs on the walls. A stainless steel, bronze and marble stair case leads down to a much larger and more luxurious Mezzo. It has a stage for live music, dance floor and a bar.

They combine sophistication and simplicity, expertly crafting refined spaces from basic materials and forms. A significant influence in the Australian architectural and interior design scene is Glenn Murcutt, who creates architecture responding to land and climate.
