Article Abstract:

The author argues that the championship soccer match for the 2000 Europa Cup was poorly managed. The small venue, the practice of reserving large blocks of tickets for corporate sponsors, and making few provisions for the many who could not attend the game encouraged a chair-throwing melee.

Don't mention the war: soccer's Euro 2000 championships

Article Abstract:

Most UK media coverage of the 2000 Europa Cup soccer competition pitting England against Germany resisted mentioning World War II. Much of tabloid newspaper focus was on the desire for England's team to win and the poor behavior of many UK fans.

Too much fuss over bad language

Article Abstract:

News publications and other media should have the honesty to accurately report the use of profanity by prominent politicians. The use of polite substitutions and asterisks fools no one and is essentially poor journalism.
