Article Abstract:

Vico Magistretti, an Italian furniture designer, was made and honorary Royal Designer for Industry in November 1992 at the age of 72. He originally trained as an architect, but changed to furniture design because he did not wish to be politically comprimised. His designs are pragmatic and functional, but elegant. He claims there is less room in the market for fashion in the 90's and designs must be durable.
