Refining L.A. Law

Article Abstract:

Interior designer Clara Igonda executed the design of the first offices of the law firm Pircher, Nichols and Meeks in 1984. When the law firm moved to a new office in a Century City high-rise, Igonda was once more commissioned for the office interiors. Igonda captured the same light, airy quality while following traditional spatial organization. The center of the design drama consisted of the main reception area where a staircase enclosed in gracefully curving walls joins the two levels. Stainless steel rails provide a high contrast to the satin finish.

Legal space

Article Abstract:

The offices of law firm Morris,Polich and Ourdy in the Los Angeles Arco Tower were designed by Paul Ridgeway Companies Inc following art deco inspiration to achieve an upbeat atmosphere. Repeated use of curves, circles and ellipses exploited the hexagonal floorplate. These designs were echoed from floor to ceiling. An elliptical stairway linked the two floors. Furthermore, colors, textures and designs served as a unifying factor in the design.
