A conversation with Francia Russell

Article Abstract:

Francia Russell, who staged many Balanchine ballets for the Kirov Ballet, prefers staging such Ballets in Russia due to the complexity of the dancers' understanding in that country. In her opinion, they lend the ballets the color, all the facets, and all that is most interesting to her. Balanchine's deep understanding of the music appears in every rehearsal as well.
