American Dance Guild conference

Article Abstract:

The theme of the American Dance Guild conference in Jun 1992 was 'Dance in a Global Community; Celebrating our Differences.' The various panel discussions on different forms of dance raised questions about amalgamation of traditional and modern dance forms, the qualifications of folk dance, the degree to which different ethnic dance forms can mix and the possibility of exploring more than one cultural identity. The message of the two-day conference seemed to be that there should be an attempt to understand other cultures if there is to be any meaningful global interaction.
