Article Abstract:

The Royal Danish Ballet has revived Serenade and Tschaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2, newly staged by Victoria Simon and Patricia Neary respectively, along with the premiere of Octet set to Mendelsson and choreographed by Peter Martins for the Balanchine centennial. Caroline Cavallo dazzled in the main ballerina role on the first night, while Gudrun Bojesen on the second night was lighter in tone, along with a warmer femininity and both performances of the Piano Concerto, who were appreciated by the Copenhagen audience.

Article Abstract:

The National Ballet of China embarked in fall 2004 on a national tour to celebrate its forty-fifth anniversary and its last stop was as the Macau Cultural Center near Hong Kong. They performed Balanchine's 'The Four Temperaments', along with the earlier masterpieces 'Serenade' and 'Theme and Variations'.

A conversation with Patricia Barker

Article Abstract:

Patricia Barker, principal ballerina for the Northwest Ballet and associated with them since the 1980s, considers herself capable of performing adagio as well as allegro ballets. Her work with William Forsythe, Kent Stowell, Francia Russell, Lew Christensen, and her Balanchine roles are discussed.
