Dance as cultural understanding: Ideas, policy and practice

Article Abstract:

The demographic diversity of Modern Britain provides resources and has created opportunities for cultural policymakers that can make a significant difference to the kind of art that is presented. Dance in particular, and very often South Asian dance, is a focus of the Arts' Council of England's attempts to be creative and serve the communities of Britain, where specific dance traditions appear to have a purchase in the flow of cultural policy, manifesting in multiculturalism or cultural diversity.
