Picasso the photographer: beyond appearances

Article Abstract:

An examination of Pablo Picasso's photographic works and unpublished documents reveals the artist was interested in all aspects of visual art and often used photography as a source for his paintings. The collection of about 100 Picasso photographs, to be exhibited in Paris, France's Picasso Museum, are evidence that Picasso was experimenting with and developing pictures early in his career. His photographic portraits were evocative of paintings and enhanced by his visual talent.

Her works, often consisting of repetitive images, include collections of photographs of body parts, kites, taxidermized birds, and so on. She is a feminist postmodernist whose work explores women's fragmentation and futility of being.
