Cape Canaveral, FL. - will this be the year construction finally begins in earth orbit on the International Space Station?

Article Abstract:

NASA plans eight space-shuttle missions for 1997, culminating in the start of assembly of the international space station, which could be delayed if Russia does not have the FGB module ready for launch in November. Space experiments, Hubble repairs and a rendezvous with Mir are also planned.

Article Abstract:

The Upper Atmospheric Research Satellite (UARS) was placed in orbit by the Discovery space shuttle in Sep 1991. UARS will study Earth's atmosphere, especially the ozone layer. Research should provide information needed to enact laws to improve earth conditions.

The new kid on the block

Article Abstract:

NASA's Endeavour, which will replace the Challenger space shuttle, has been delivered on schedule and about $40 million under budget. The first launch is scheduled for spring 1992.
