Inside European space - status of major projects

Issues are presented concerning the progress of a number of projects undertaken by European space organizations including Germany's Association for the Promotion of Spaceflight. Projects include satellites, robotic arms and telescopes.

New sensors for new missions

Issues are presented concerning the development of imaging technology for use in planetary exploration. The use of visible and infrared spectra for photography is discussed. The information gained from photogeology is described.

Shenzhou makes history

Article Abstract:

Issues are presented concerning the successful automated test flight of the Shenzhou manned spacecraft in November 1999. The flight was the first manned flight by Chinese astronauts.
