Selene: moon science with a soft landing

Article Abstract:

Japan's planned SELENE (Selenological and Engineering Explorer) lunar missions is expected to increase mankind's knowledge about the geologic forces affecting the lunar surface. The orbiting vehicle is expected to eject penetrators carrying seismological and monitoring equipments deep into the lunar surface.

Ice on Mercury and the Moon

Article Abstract:

Observations of the surface of Mercury made using new radar techniques suggest that ice may exist on the surface of its polar regions. If this confirmed, the existence of ice on the Moon might be possible, given the many similarities between Mercury and the Moon.

Crafting the moon: the first lunan artist

Article Abstract:

Artist Peter Kokh has developed pigments and paints dervived from materials that are available on the moon. Regolith dust and color metal oxides can be suspended in sodium silicate liquid to create paintings with a wide variety of colors and tones.
