Texas-style activism: launching a political platform

A discussion on the need for supporters of the US space program to become more involved in politics to help increase the level of support from the political parties is presented. The author calls on National Space Society members to become more active in state politics.

Voters on the November 3, 1998 election are advised to support members of Congress who are pro-space. Background assessment of candidates can be undertaken by checking their voting records concerning space-related bills such as the Commercial Space Act.

Political parties are making significant changes in their platforms to include space issues and attract voters who are in favor continued space exploration. This trend is likely to lead to more funding for future space programs.
