The concept of space power systems should serve as an impetus for financial support by both private groups and governments of space exploration activities. The concept involves the conversion of solar energy to meet earth's needs in the 21st century.

Nuclear fusion could provide man with an almost unlimited source of energy and would be an ideal means of spacecraft propulsion. However, research and development efforts are quite a ways from producing a practical fusion engine or reactor.
