The 7-series of BMWs featured a V-6 engine for years. Now the 740i is being introduced in the US with a V-8 engine which provides more power and smoothness. The 740i will be available only in a 5-speed automatic and is expected to be priced somewhere in the mid-to-upper $50,000 range.
