Article Abstract:
Driving vintage automobiles leads to greater appreciation for the automotive innovations that have made cars safer and more comfortable over the decades. The design, engineering and performance of a 1927 Mercedes-Benz SSK and a 1931 Chrysler CD-8 Roadster are evaluated.

An evaluation of the traction characteristics of four different types of automobile drivelines yields several conclusions. The largest traction differences occurred in straight-ahead driving. Traction control systems benefit both stability and traction.
