Article Abstract:

Glass is produced at a temperature of 2,600-3,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The furnace in which glass is made has to be constantly water-cooled because steel itself melts at 2,660 degrees Fahrenheit. Every 12 years or more, the furnace must be upgraded as it is itself a raw material.

Planned comments for the 1995 Concours Italiana at Pebble Beach, CA, include the fact that owners of Fiat Abarths often drove with the rear decklids open in order to improve the aerodynamics of the car, and that the Fiat 850 engine runs backward for cooling purposes.

A trip to the third annual Copperstate 1,000 in Arizona is described. Race driver Stirling Moss was the 1993 guest of honor, and race driver Phil Hill was driving a 1925 Locomobile, the oldest automobile in the event.
