In design, Japan's sun is still rising

Article Abstract:

Toyota Owner's and Restorer's club meet at the patrician ambience of the 18th fairway at Pebble Beach which presented two 1867 Toyota 2000GT priced at $150,000 a piece. Toyota used the 2000GT for some heavily publicized long-distance speed trials and then in 1968 hired Carroll Shelby to enter two 2000GTs in the SCCA's C-production road-racing championship against Porsche.
