Nike on the rebound

Article Abstract:

Nike Inc. expects a rebound in profits after its lackluster performance during the early 1980s. The athletic shoe maker reports an increase in orders during the third quarter of 1985 as compared to the third quarter of 1984. Due to the termination of the low-line footwear, the company recorded profit of just $3.5 million during the first three quarters of 1985; during the same stretch in 1984 the profits totaled $34.7 million.

A test for payment card biases

Article Abstract:

A payment card using an exponential response scale was developed in response to concerns that payment cards used in contingent valuation method studies may be subject to centering and range biases. The results indicate the absence of range and centering biases except when the payment card truncates the upper end of the value distribution. Further studies are recommended on the number of cells a payment card should have.

Article Abstract:

Two innovative three-wheel vehicles are described. The Sylph, designed by Matt Van Leeuwen is an aerodynamically-shaped vehicle that uses a Honda flat-4 motorcycle engine. The 'suitcase car' is literally a suitcase that can be unfolded into a vehicle powered by a 2-stroke engine.
