Panoz Esperante

Article Abstract:

Danny Panoz's customized roadster, the Panoz Esperante ($80,000), is an all-aluminum car powered by a 320-horsepower, 4.6-liter DOHC Ford SVT Mustang Cobra motor. Panoz retained the basic layout of the AIV roadster, leaving the instrument panel in the top center of the dashboard. The suspension uses unequal length control arms with rocker-arm-activated inboard coil-over shock units. The first model of the Esperante will be on the auto-show circuit this spring.

ATTACK OF THE STUPEFYING RADIO WAVES!

Article Abstract:

Recent studies have shown that radio frequency signals and electromagnetic radiation can unwittingly affect the performance of an automobile. Newer automobiles with greater amounts of microprocessors designed to closely monitor performance are more likely to have problems in areas or spots that have high amounts of electromagnetic radiation. A site near the broadcasting station for Voice of America is used to test vehicles for problems.

Heads Up, No Bust, on Asphalt

Article Abstract:

Street racing, usually for money, occurs often across the country. A 1 a.m. race in a rural area near Chicago is described, from the racers' arrival to when the police show up. Street racing on city streets and busy highways has caused major accidents, but those who are serious about the sport take precautions to avoid risking any lives but their own.
