Every American teenager seeking a driving license, must demonstrate proficiency in parallel parking, but not so in Japan if one's Toyoto Prius is equipped with the company's Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA). IPA is not utterly devoid of driver responsibility, once ready to back-up, intentions are identified as to whether it is an inline or a parallel spot, the navigation then displays rear view with an overlaid red rectangle and the touch-screen arrows have to be used for the intended face and rest is magic.
