Tributes are payed to quanitiy surveyor, Owen Davis who died at the age of 84 on Jul 15 1992. He was respected for his committment to quality and his innovative approach to cost planning and multi-disciplinary working. Former colleagues praise his helpful, courteous manner as well as his integrity, knowledge and thoughtful approach to his work. He encouraged others to do their best work and was an example to his profession.

Article Abstract:

A 12-year search for 18th- century military hospital archeological remains to investigate the prevailing medical procedures at the time is described. Sites uncovered in the search were the Mount Independence General Hospital and the smallpox hospital of Rogers Island, which handled casualties from the French and Indian War and the American Revolution.
